GREAT DANE LITTERS

Future plans

No Great Dane litters are currently listed. Future plans will be added here when appropriate.

THE GREAT DANE

Breed type matters.

The Great Dane should balance size and power with elegance, sound movement, and a dependable temperament. We value Danes that are structurally functional, well balanced, and unmistakably true to breed type, not simply large dogs.

Structure & movement

The breed standard emphasizes a powerful, well-formed, smoothly muscled dog whose proportions remain balanced and athletic. Movement should be efficient and powerful, with long reach and strong rear drive.

Temperament

Correct Great Dane temperament is confident, friendly, dependable, and courageous. Timidity and aggression are not characteristic of the breed and are qualities we do not want in our program.

Color

The AKC recognizes seven Great Dane colors: black, blue, brindle, fawn, harlequin, mantle, and merle. Color and pattern are part of breed type, but the standard specifically places greater importance on conformation and breed type than on minor pattern deviations.

Merle mantle

Summit is a merle mantle. In the standard, merle may occur with a mantle pattern: a merle blanket over the body with white on areas such as the muzzle, neck, chest, legs, and tail tip. Our color decisions will remain intentional and consistent with responsible Great Dane breeding practices.
