THE GOLDEN RETRIEVER
Purpose first. Always a Golden.
Our focus is on well-rounded, field-line Golden Retrievers that retain the structure, temperament, and breed type expected of a Golden Retriever. We are not breeding specifically for the conformation ring, but we do believe working ability and correct breed type should exist together.
Built to work
The Golden Retriever standard describes a symmetrical, powerful, active, sound, and well put together dog, and, importantly, identifies the Golden as primarily a hunting dog. We value athletic dogs with the structure and stamina to retrieve, train, compete, and remain active partners.
Temperament & versatility
A Golden should be friendly, reliable, trustworthy, eager, alert, and self-confident. We want that classic Golden temperament paired with biddability and working drive: dogs capable of field work and dog sports, while also having the temperament and trainability we value for service and therapy work.
Field lines, not outside the standard
“Field line” describes the working emphasis in our pedigrees; it does not mean we disregard the breed standard. Our goal is a functional, moderate, athletic Golden that remains recognizably and correctly a Golden Retriever in structure, movement, coat, and temperament.
Color
The standard allows rich, lustrous golden color in various shades. Extremely pale or extremely dark body color is undesirable, while natural variation in shade is expected. We do not select for color alone, health, temperament, working ability, soundness, and overall breed type come first.
